It wasn't a surprise, even though it hurt like it was.
From the very beginning my heart silently screamed it.
There was something in your look, in the way you mentioned it, in the clumsy excuse that it was all coincidence.
When she blocked you from the same social network, I suspected that you did it to get her out of my reach and get her into your life, it was all part of your well-woven strategy, you manufactured the excuse and the perfect scene: that you had rejected her, that there was nothing, that I was wrong.
And I, idiot, wanted to believe you.
You repeated that lie to me so many times
that almost convinced me
that my intuition was exaggerated,
that the poison was there, in my distrust.
You lied to my face.
With sassness,
with that disgusting tranquility
who think they can manipulate
the threads to your craving.
But I wasn't crazy.
I knew it.
I always knew that.
In your tone, in your gestures,
in your way of justifying the unjustifiable.
I knew it every sleepless night,
with every pinch in the chest,
in every uncomfortable silence
that you disguised with pretty words.
My body was screaming
what my mind didn't want to accept:
she was there, stuck between your words,
in your silences, in your damn insistence
in denying everything.
And still I stayed wanting to believe,
wanting to cover the screams of my heart
with the bandage of your voice
Almost a year later today
you guys follow each other back.
Such a simple gesture,
so insignificant to the world,
but for me it was a shot straight to the soul,
it was like ripping my skin off.
Do you know what it feels like?
Feeling that the lie you carried for months exploded in my face, thus confirming every punch.
I don't need any explanations.
That invisible click was enough to confirm what I was always forcing myself to deny, to shut up: that it was always her, that you never stopped looking for her, that I was never enough to fill that space she occupied in you.
That wasn't paranoid,
it wasn't insecurity,
it was not my mistake .
It was her.
It was always her.
And I get through the pain of having known it from the beginning, of having burdened with that certain mute certainty while you were selling me illusions that never existed.
You broke me without a knife,
and you tore me up even worse
with your "it's not true", "you're wrong",
with that false "I love you" that I create truth.
Because your lie didn't just steal my trust,
it also stole my dignity to believe in my own instinct, to believe in the real, so don't be lying to me.
Today I no longer care about your version,
I no longer waste myself asking "why",
I'm not interested in your tales.
Today I am left with the open wound and the rage of acknowledging that my worst fear was not an invention.
That the truth is simple, clear and brutal:
It was always her.
And you never had the balls to admit it.
